Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
12 Years
What is your primary product or service?
We offer indoor rock climbing to the general public whenever we are open, as well as yoga 3 times a day, and a myriad of other fitness classes.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I started climbing when I was 12 years old. I started competing in rock climbing back in 2003. From there, I started to coach a non-competitive youth program through my high school years. After Graduating college, my old coach, now owner of Summit, offered me a coaching/HR position for Summit. After doing that for about three months, a GM spot opened at our Carrollton location, and I took it. Then the GM at Summit Grapevine quit and I transferred here, and now I am running the Grapevine location and coach our non-competitive youth programs.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
There are three other climbing facilities in the metroplex, but only Summit has multiple locations and our membership allows our clients access to all three. Our owners, managers, and setters are all lifetime climbers to give you a better perspective on how climbing can benefit you. We are also the only climbing facility to offer yoga everyday of the week.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Currently, there are three Summit locations: Grapevine, Carrollton and Dallas. We have plans in development to open a fourth gym very soon!
