How long have you been in business?
Custom Turf Services, Inc. has bee in business since April 2003.
What is your primary product or service?
Custom Turf Services offers a range of treatments designed to enhance the health, vitality and aesthetic appeal of lawns and landscapes. Our services include fertilizer and weed control treatments for lawns and planting beds, and insect and disease control treatments for lawns, shrubs and trees. We also offer core aeration services for lawns, applications of wetting agents and other soil conditioners to assist plants with water absorption, and growth regulators that can help decrease trimming needs and increase flowering and drought tolerance. Most of our customers participate in our turf fertilizer and weed control program, which involves periodic visits year-round to inspect and treat lawns with seasonally appropriate fertilizers and weed control agents.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was recruited into the business several years ago by one of the then owners because of my reputation for quickly gaining expertise in new fields I engage with. The owner was looking for someone to help take the company to the next level. I studied the company, its business, and the industry thoroughly and in depth, quickly earning a Texas commercial applicator's license, and now I am majority shareholder of the company.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Our focus is on providing the very best results for our customers, not on maximizing sales. We believe that sales will naturally follow and that we will build a dedicated customer base if we deliver consistently high quality results. Our strategy for delivering high quality results is based on: [1] Intense focus on employee training; [2] Avoiding stringent production quotas or compensation schemes that encourage technicians to cut corners in order to race through jobs; [3] Never recommending a treatment or service that won't provide a real benefit to the customer; [4] Educating customers on proper lawn and landscape watering and care techniques; [5] Keeping ourselves constantly and accountable to the customer by allowing the customer to cancel service at any time without penalty. We want to always be earning our business, so we will never lock a customer into a fixed term contract.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently operate out of one location in Colleyville, Texas. As our customer base grows, we may expand the number of operating bases we have so that we can stay close to our customers and keep the ability to respond quickly to our customers' needs.
What type of payments do you accept?
Custom Turf Services accepts payment by check, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), and PayPal.
Which areas do you service?
Custom Turf Services provides regular service to portions of Tarrant, Denton, Dallas and Collin Counties, including all or portions of the following cities: Argyle, Arlington, Bartonville, Colleyville, Coppell, Copper Canyon, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Fort Worth (northern portions), Grapevine, Grand Prairie, Highland Village, Hurst/Euless/Bedford (Mid-Cities), Irving, Justin, Keller, Lantana, Las Colinas, Mansfield, North Richland Hills, Roanoke, Southlake, Trophy Club, Valley Ranch, and Westlake. On a case-by-case basis, we also provide service to Frisco, Allen, McKinney and surrounding areas. We can travel further for larger projects. Please contact us if your area is not listed to see if we can service your area.
